Green Up Your Workspace: 5 Plants Ideal for Your Office Desk

Hello to working people and those who love gardening. One of my friends, Jose, shared his pain with me last week. He loves plants, but because of his work schedule, he cannot care for his garden.

Working full-time and taking care of a garden is more challenging than ever. Plants need attention, but working people need more time.

Listening to my friend’s pain, I came up with the solution that he could keep some tiny plants at his office desk.

Today, I am sharing the list I shared with my friend Jose.

I remembered that the plants should take up only a little space and be easy to care for and get. Since I like the number five, I will share five plants you can keep at your office desk. Not in the office, at your desk.

Succulents

Succulents

My first choice is succulents. Tiny little plants you can keep at your office desk. They look like flowers and come in many shades of colour. You can choose the colour you want.

Succulents are easy to replant and need attention, but not too much. You buy a nice pot and replant the succulents on your desk.

Looking at the succulent makes you happy and increases the beauty of the desk. Succulents only consume a little space but take up a small place. Keep them at the corner of your desk so you can talk to them when you miss your garden.

Cactus

Well, cacti have a lot of varieties. You can choose any of them but select the small-sized ones. Although cacti look great on a desk, big ones can be harmful sometimes.

I chose the golden barrel and peanut cactus because they look cute and take up little space.

Cacti need less attention, but be careful where you place them. They can be harmful if placed too close to you. Keep a quiet distance from the cactus.

The best part of having a cactus is that it can grow in suitable weather. It’s easy to care for and easy to get.

Hoya Heart

My third choice is Hoya Heart. Choose this if you want your heart to be happy. Hoya Heart is straightforward to care for. New gardeners also have Hoya Heart as their first plant.

Just choose a nice solid colour pot and replant the Hoya Heart. Could you keep it on your desk? There is no need to water it every day. Too much water can damage the Hoya Heart. It can even last through the most extended summer.

This adorable-shaped plant will bring beauty to your office desk.

African Violets:

Those who love flowers can keep this as a choice. African Violets have various shades of flowers—pink, purple, and white. They take up tiny space to grow and require low maintenance. With proper care, they can bloom for decades.

Keep an African Violet on your desk and wait for it to flower. Trust me, the waiting will be worth it. I am planning to give my friend an African Violet as a gift. African Violets make an excellent gift for gardeners.

Jade Plant

Jade PlantMy last choice is the jade plant. Jade plants are so common in every indoor garden. They are easy to care for, even if you only water them once a month, but don’t make it a habit.

Jade plants take up tiny space and are easy to care for. Keep the jade plant in the corner or middle of your desk. In your free time, you can take care of it.

Well, I wanted to list so many plants suitable for planting at an office desk, but big plants are challenging to keep at a desk. Next time, I will list plants that can be kept in the office, not just on the desk.

These five suggestions I gave to my friend and now share with you. If you have other choices, you can bring them to your office and share them with us in the comments below.

That’s all for today. Happy Planting!
